- 今から53年前、1972年に発刊されたCar Styling誌を第2世代の2019年の休刊以来6年ぶりに再刊した。オリジナルの判型としては第1世代が2010年に休刊されて以来15年ぶりとなる。もちろんバイリンガル。BEVの登場、自動運転実現への道のりの途上にある現在のクルマの世界は、こでまでにないほどにデザインの時代であると言われている。新生Car Stylingではクルマをデザイン視点で切り取り、あらためてデザインという行為を見直し、解析し、そしてスタイリングを解剖する。初号であるVol.1では日本の自動車メーカー5社のデザイン部門トップがグローバルに向けてメッセージを発信、各社のブランドメッセージとしてのデザインのあり方を詳説している。またCar Stylingは今後の50年を見据え現役世代や次世代への引継ぎの役割も担うバイブルとなることを目的としている。
53 years ago, in 1972, Car Styling magazine was first published. Now, after a six-year hiatus following the discontinuation of its second generation in 2019, it has been revived. As for the original format, this marks the first reissue in 15 years since the first generation ceased publication in 2010. Of course, it remains bilingual.
With the advent of BEVs and the ongoing journey toward autonomous driving, the current automotive world is said to be an era of design like never before. The reborn Car Styling takes a design-centric approach to cars, reevaluating the act of design itself, analyzing it, and dissecting styling.
In its inaugural issue, Vol.1, the heads of the design departments from five major Japanese automakers deliver messages to a global audience, detailing how each company approaches design as a core element of their brand identity. Additionally, Car Styling aims to serve as a bible for the industry, looking ahead to the next 50 years and playing a key role in passing knowledge and insights to both the current and future generations.
